NTP Text Message: Diet And Love (5.01.22)

Most of us were taught to view diet solely through the lens of our own gratification, but diet is actually an act of worship to God. In the Old Testament, what the Hebrews ate was as morally significant as everything else they said and did. In the New Testament, the Bible says “Whether you are eating or drinking, do it for the glory of God”(1 Corinthians 10:31).

We honor God when we consume food that maximally enables us to love others through the effect it has on our organisms. A healthy diet, as you know, improves health, mood, emotions, sleep—and in many cases, self-image—all of which have spiritual and relational implications.

For the believer, dietary discipline is a spiritual discipline.
