If you look at King David, he’s confronted by the Prophet Nathan. He falls out on his face and cries out to God for 7 days. “Lord, against you, and against you only have I sinned.” And you find his prayer of repentance in Psalm 51. So David’s focus was I’ve hurt the heart of the one I love. Saul’s focus was you’ve embarrassed me in front of my leaders. Saul’s sorrow was wordly. David’s sorrow was godly.
