Cultural Quote #117: The Irony Of Kings

To become king of any people required incredible discipline, intelligence, and power, both individually and socially. Isn’t it ironic that kings were so often known for gluttony, sumptuous living, and an overall lack of discipline?

When we experience comfort and control, we often start to do the exact opposite of what it took to get there. Maybe, like kings, we inherited our blessing from culture or family. Or maybe we become complacent after achieving some measure or success.

Today, we are reaping the harvest of seeds we sowed yesterday. And tomorrow we will reap the harvest of seeds we sow today.
